Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Be7 6. Re1 b5 7. Bb3 d6 8. c3 O-O 9. h3 Bb7 {During his very long career, Gligoric played different lines in this position. But in last time he usually plays like in this game.} 10. d4 Re8 11. Nbd2 Bf8 12. d5 {Few months before this game I analyzed this not very often position and I liked some new ideas that I found. Main move in theory is 12.a4.} 12... Nb8 {I think most logical solution. On a5 knight would be out of center and on e7 will disturb other black pieces.} 13. Nf1 Nbd7 14. N3h2 { Exactly this idea attracted me to this line. Black must play c6 in some moment and after dc6 Bc6: begins strategic fight for d5 square. If black controls it then he will after d6-d5 solve all his problems. That's why white plays this a little bit strange move, with idea to change one black knight by Bc1-g5-f6: and the other one by Nh2-g4-f6:. Then after Bb3-d5 and Nf1-e3 white would control square d5 and his advantage is also better knight than dark square bishop and weak points d6 and d5.} 14... c6 {During preparation for this game I analyzed mostly 14...Nc5 with idea to dislodge bishop from active position and after that c7-c6.White must soon or later play b2-b4 and then black has counterplay over c-file because of weak points c3 and c4.} 15. dxc6 Bxc6 16. Bg5 Qc7 {In that time that was a new move. Usually was played 16...h6 but after Bf6: and Nh2-g4 white fulfilled his strategic idea. Comparing with 16... h6 this is wining of time. Black wants his queen move to b7 to build pressure on strategic important squares d5 and e4.} 17. Qf3 Qb7 18. Ng3 {This is the result of black's maneuver. White wanted to play Nf1-e3 but because of e4 pawn knight must be on g3.} 18... d5 {Black wants immediately punish white strategy but it's not everything so simple. White pieces are all on king's side , bishop is dangerous on b3 and weakness on f7 is obvious.} 19. Ng4 $1 dxe4 20. Qf5 Nd5 {Only move because after 20...Be7 white plays 21.Nh5.} 21. Nxe4 Re6 22. Rad1 Rae8 {Interesting moment: absolutely all white pieces participate in attack. But all black pieces have defending functions! It should be mentioned that few months later this position was played in game Short-Beliavsky. Beliavsky played 22...h5.} (22... h5 23. Ne3 Nf4 24. Bxf4 Bxe4 25. Rxd7 { Short won very important game.}) 23. Rd3 {Enlarges rook activity and it can be dangerous over d-file but also over third row. All white pieces stand ideally and time is for deciding operations!} 23... h5 (23... g6 24. Qf3 f5 25. Rxd5 fxg4 26. Qd1 {white is much better.}) 24. Bxd5 $1 {This was difficult move because it's enough with maneuvers now white must play concretely.} 24... Bxd5 25. Ngf6+ $1 {This is the point of 24.Bd5:.} 25... Nxf6 (25... gxf6 26. Nxf6+ Nxf6 27. Bxf6 h4 28. Qg4+ Kh7 29. Qxh4+ Bh6 30. Rg3 Rxf6 31. Qxf6 { white is clear better.}) 26. Nxf6+ gxf6 27. Bxf6 Bh6 {Release fallback for his king, Gligoric was hoping that he will reject attack by this move but there is surprise.} 28. Rxe5 $1 {Decisive move. Black can't take on e5 because of 29. Rg3+ Kf8 30.Qh7 and black can stop mating only with giving rook on h1! Now is attacked bishop on d5 but main threat is Rg3+ with Qh7 and black can't take neither rook or bishop because of mate on h8.} 28... Be4 { Maybe it looks that black is OK but there is another strike!} 29. Rxe6 $1 Bxf5 30. Rxe8+ Kh7 31. Rg3 Bg4 32. hxg4 Bf4 33. gxh5 $1 { The last trick! From mate on h8 there is no good defense and so black resigns.} 1-0 1-0 ali glavna pretnja je Tg3 uz Dh7 i crni ne moze uzeti ni na e5 ni na f6 zbog mata na h8.} 28... Be4 { Mozda se cini da se crni izvukao, ali sledi novi udar!} 29. Rxe6 Bxf5 30. Rxe8+ Kh7 31. Rg3 Bg4 32. hxg4 Bf4 33. gxh5 { Poslednji trik! Od mata na h8 nema zadovoljavajuce odbrane.} 1-0
